Hello everyone! This guide will teach you some of the many methods for 99 Runecrafting. This includes the best ways to get 99 Runecrafting in terms of cash (at later levels, possibly 1M+ per hour), in terms of speed (35k exp+ per hour, which is extremely good for Runecrafting exp rates), and in terms of some cash and some speed.

Note: It is implied that you are using the best pouches you can. Pouches can be obtained from killing the Abyssal monsters in the Abyss.

Level 1-14, Air Runes. Image

The easiest way to do this is simply buy a bunch of rune essence (approximately 450), wear the best weight-reducing armor you can and an Air Tiara (or have an air talisman), and run from the western Varrock bank to the Air Altar (south of the path leading from Varrock to the Barbarian Village). Craft your Air Runes, then run back to the bank, and repeat.

Level 14-44 (or level 40)* Fire Runes. (Note: if you have any pouches to hold Essence, you should start using the small pouch and medium pouch at level 25).
Image

Depending on how much money you want to spend, these can be quick or not so quick (but cheaper).
The fast but costly method:
Wear the best weight reducing armor and a Fire Tiara (or have a talisman), and use a ring of duelling to teleport between Castle Wars and the Duel Arena. This method again, costs a lot, but is very quick. (It's how I did level 14-44). You can also use the Gnome Gliders, but this requires the completion of a quest and is still a bit slower than the Ring of Duelling method (Not buy much though, I recommend using Gnome Gliders if you can use them).
The slower but cheaper method:
Wear the best weight reducing armor and a Fire Tiara (or have a talisman), and run from the Duel arena bank to the Fire Altar. Craft your runes, then run back to the Duel Arena bank.

* If you have completed Lunar Diplomacy and want to make some money, you can craft Astral Runes to level 44. You can either run back and forth from the bank to the Altar, or you can wield an Earth/Lava/Mud Staff (basically any staff that gives infinite Earth Runes), have a bunch of Law Runes in your inventory, and teleport to moonclan (requiring 69 Magic) after you have crafted your Astral Runes. Astral Runes aren't the best exp or the best cash, but they are okay cash/exp. It all depends on if you're patient or not. :)

Level 44-54, Nature Runes (or continue Fire Runes with the Ring of Duelling method).
Image

Now, if you want exp and don't give a hoot about how much money you spend because you have billions burning a hole in your pocket, by all means continue the Fire Rune method, it's somewhat faster exp than this method. ;)

For those of you (like me) who don't have billions burning a hole in your pockets, Nature Runes is your next step.

There are a few ways to do this:

1) Complete the Heroes' Quest (will be explained later why you want it completed), and have a bunch of Amulet of Glories in your bank. Equip the best weight-reducing armor you can, plus a pickaxe or a hatchet (your choice as to which. A tinderbox isn't recommended, as it uses and inventory space a rune could be put). Start at Edgeville bank. From there, run to the Zamorakian Mage in the low level Wilderness (he can be found alongside the river going into the Wilderness). Right click him as soon as you see him and select "teleport". You will end up in a place that looks like... well, an Abyss.
Run past the monsters (note: high agility, defence, thieving, and woodcutting/mining is helpful here.) and find either something resembling a pipe you have to squeeze through, eyes, or something to chop down/mine away. Pass the obstacle of your choice, and you will appear in an area with a bunch of cave-like entrances with a symbol above them. Find the Nature symbol, and enter that "cave" (it's really just a rift that teleports you to the Nature Altar). Craft your runes, and use the Amulet of Glory to teleport to Edgeville. Bank your Runes and repeat. Multiple Amulet of Glories (charged) would be useful as you won't have to run to the Heroes' Guild every 4 times you use your Amulet of Glory (to recharge it).

2) Have an Amulet of Glory in your house. Replace an inventory space used for Pure Essence with a bunch of Teleport to House tablets. Follow the same method as above, only after crafting your runes, teleport to your house, and use your Amulet of Glory mounted on the wall (requires level 47 construction) to teleport to Edgeville. Repeat. :)

3) Plain and simple: Wear the best weight-reducing armor you can and a Nature Tiara. Run from the Shilo Bank to the Nature Altar (requires completion of Shilo Village quest) and back to the Shilo Village bank. This is a way to optomize cash earned, but lessens the exp rate.

Level 54-65, Law Runes. Image

>>>Note: From here on, this is not the best exp (but it is better cash) if you have completed Lunar Diplomacy and are able to use the Ourania Teleport. The ZMI Altar is the fastest exp straight to 99 now if you have both of those requirements. The ZMI altar will be explained later on.

Buy a Law Tiara from the Grand Exchange. Equip the best weight-reducing armor (that the monks of Entrana will let you use). Take out what you need to craft Runes at your best plus a house teleport for those of you with an Amulet of Glory at home, and run to the Law Altar (from Draynor Village.). Run to Port Sarim, sail to Entrana, run to the Altar, enter, craft your runes, and teleport home. Then use the Amulet of Glory to teleport to Draynor Village. You can also do the same thing with the Amulet of Glories for those of you who have completed Heroes' Quest and have a ton of Amulet of Glories sitting in your bank (charged) as you did with the Nature Rune Abyss crafting.

level 65-77, Death Runes. Image

Ah, Death Runes... These require the completion of Mournings End Part II to craft. For these, I would say using the Abyss method would be your best bet. Otherwise, you have a nice temple you have to run through, and I highly disregard that method.

*Note: If you are using pouches, when you hit level 75 Runecrafting and use the Giant Pouch, stop using the small pouch if you want to save some time. If you want huge loads of Runes for cash, then use all 4 pouches. This is implied for any Runecrafting mentioned in this guide that involves a Runecrafting level of 75 or higher.

level 77-91 (or 99), Blood Runes. Image

Another rune requiring a quest to complete before you can craft (Legacy of Seergaze). However, like Death Runes, crafting these is extremely profitable. You can either use on of the Abyss methods, or you can use this method:

Start in Canifis Bank with the best weight-reducing equipment and Blood talisman/tiara. Run to the Canifis Inn Basement, then run to the Meiyerditch Dungeon. Run to the Blood Altar (which involves a nice long path for you), enter, craft your runes, and either have runes to teleport to Canifis with you OR teleport home and use your Kharyll portal (requires completion of Desert Treasure and level 50 Construction).

Blood Runes definitely aren't the best exp, (nor are Death Runes), but they certainly have profit.

Level 91-99, Double Nature Runes.

Congratulations! If you are looking at this part of the guide to use it, then you are almost halfway (in exp) to level 99 Runecrafting! This is where a large amount of profit comes in for those of you who have 57 summoning, can use the Abyss, or those of you willing to run from Shilo Village to the Nature Altar.

Here is the method for those of you with 57+ Summoning:
Start at Castle Wars wearing the best weight reducing armor, a summoned Graahk familiar, and a Ring of Duelling (note: it would be a good idea to have a bunch of them in your bank). Teleport to the Graahk hunting area using your familiar. Run East until you reach the Nature Altar. Enter, craft your runes, then use the Ring of Duelling to teleport back to Castle Wars. This method is extremely good for cash, you can make 1M+ plus about 20-30k Runecrafting exp per hour! Those of you who do this method level 91-99 Runecrafting will find yourselves making 200M+ in these 8 levels!!

For those of you who are running from Shilo Village to the Altar and back to Shilo Village, you will make 200M+ as well on your journey to 99 Runecrafting, however your exp rate won't be 20-30k per hour.

The Abyss method also works nicely, as it is similar to the rate of Graahk'ing. It's exp and cash rate are almost identical, however Graahk'ing gives a bit more profit. ;)

The ZMI Altar. Image

This Altar is by far the fastest exp for those with level 50+ Runecrafting. The reason 50+ is recommended is because normally you wouldn't craft the runes needed to teleport to Ourania if you had a lower level.

The method:

Teleport to Ourania. Be wearing the best weight-reducing armor you can plus a staff giving infinite Earth Runes, and have only 3 pouches (medium, large, and giant for those of you with level 75+ Runecrafting). Your inventory should consist of the 3 pouches, a large amount of mind runes (to access the bank; suggest 10k+ Mind Runes for those who will be Runecrafting for awhile at the ZMI). Use the bank to fill up your pouches and inventory with Pure Essence, then put Protect from Missles on (for those of you with the Prayer level) and run to the Altar. Craft your runes, then teleport to Ourania. Repeat the process.
In the event you didn't craft the required runes to teleport to Ourania, you must run back along the path you came to the bank.

Well, good luck (or good job) with 99 Runecrafting. I hope this guide helped, and I wish you the best of luck with Runecrafting!! :D

Nice guide, if you want to put some pictures of the runes next to the titles that would be cool; you can get them from the images in the item tracker (found here)

Simply insert like this:
Code:
[img]Image URL[/img]

To get the url, simply right click the image...

Instead of the duel rings for fires, the gliders work too...glider to al karid from grand tree and back to tree and down 1 level to bank.

Unless you're using the Death or Blood Altar Teletabs (obatained from the Great Orb Project Minigame located in the Runecrafting guild), they're slower exp compared to the ZMI altar (considering you use the fastest method for Death/Blood Runes Vs. fastest method for the ZMI altar).

Glad to hear you'll be using this guide Hering. :)

Fastest method for the ZMI altar is to have a full bank (438 items), giving you the fastest rcing exp possible in game.
